The Theory Test
Your theory test is in two parts, the first part is a multiple choice questionnaire and the second part is a hazard perception test. You must pass both parts of this test.
There are 50 multiple choice questions and you have 57 minutes to complete them all. The questions are displayed on a computer screen and you just need to touch the correct answer on the screen. You can have a 15 minute practice session prior to the test beginning.
Whilst taking the test you have the option to flag up any of the questions that you would like to come back to later, therefore after answering question 50 you can then go back and answer the ones that you flagged earlier.
You need to get 43 out of 50 to pass this part of the test. There is a 3 minute interval between the multiple choice questions and the hazard perception section starting.
Test Yourself With Our Mock Theory Test
At the beginning of the hazard perception test you can watch a short video clip that shows what you need to do in the test. You can repeat this clip just one more time before the actual hazard perception test begins.
The test consists of 14 video clips that are about one minute long. There is one hazard in every clip but on one of the clips there will be two hazards, this makes a total of 15 hazards. You can get a maximum of 5 points per hazard, therefore there are a total of 75 points altogether. You’ll need to get a minimum of 44 points out of 75 to pass the test.
